Thereafter, many transitions took place. In 1939, the Nagoya Imperial University was established with the addition of the School of Science and Engineering and the School of Medicine, thus absorbing the Nagoya Medical College. It is now a composed of 9 schools, 13 graduate schools and 3 subsidiary research institutes. It is one of the best university in Japan, and was famous for educating four Nobel Prize winners: Ryoji Noyori, Osamu Shimomura, Makoto Kobayashi and Toshihide Masukawa.
